Journalist Nearly Killed. Press Freedom Already Dead In Russia
Shiraz Socialist notes the torturous death of journalism in Russia -- not through bureaucratic censorship, but the actual torturous murders of Russian journalists. The latest incident:
Oleg Kashin, a reporter on the daily newspaper Kommersant, suffered a fractured skull, shattered jaw, broken leg and smashed fingers after two men attacked him on the doorstep of his Moscow home. He is lucky to be alive.
Things are so bad that to keep up with this awful trend, someone has created an online database to track all of the murders of Russian journalists.
